Guru says:

Welcome to a new season of fun and learning. Last year I learned (again) not to make assumptions about how good teams were the previous season. Of course, by the end of the season it had all been filtered out but it wasn't fun and I'm here to have fun. This season you can express your opinions about the ratings or how good teams really are or whatever is nice conversation.

Let's start by talking up your team. Just reply to this post or send your boasts to my email address on the right side. Remember, parents, this is a game and games are fun if you let the kids play. This is not the NFL. You don't have to be a star, you just have to shine once in a while. Gee, that's kind of mushy.

The ratings this season will be what I have been contemplating for years. In fact about mid-season last year I started using this method in the NFL, NCAA, and CFL. This season it has been doing fairly well even though I didn't get it updated every week. The CFL is tough but my numbers are working there so I'm going to use it here as well. It's very responsive and its goal - other than putting the teams in order of talent - is for each team's rating to change as little as possible from week to week. There will be no ratings before the first games are played. After the first week they will be a little more valuable than flipping a coin. By the fifth week, though, we will start to see a clearer picture.

So get out there and have a good time.
